The 'Eternal City' of Rome has a history dating back over 2500 years from the time the mythical Romulus and Remus are thought to have founded it after being brought up by a wolf. Staying options range from the reasonably priced apartments (rather than hotels) downtown, again near the Pantheon or the mid range hotels mostly settled in Old Rome and the 5 star ones there and contemporary Centre. Rome is supreme for its nightlife, ristorantes and other smaller eating places. Italian pizzas, ice cream / gelatino and coffee preparations are unique and a must try. Prices can be costly unless you are guided to eateries which contribute great value for money.
